In collaboration with Midland College and Casa de Amigos, United Way of Midland helped to provide free tax preparation for 337 families and individuals, and receive their hard-earned tax returns. More than $480,000 tax dollars were put back into the community, $164,799.00 of which were Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC). The EITC is a vital federal tax program that encourages and rewards work, and reduces poverty.
