The 4th Annual Power of the Purse was held on October 25th at the Midland Country Club. Over 150 women joined together for an afternoon filled with lunch, mimosas, purse raffles and much more. This year's keynote speaker featured Sonia Manzano. You may know Sonia as “Maria” on Sesame Street, where she played a lovable mom and friend to millions of children (and puppets) for decades. Our Power of the Purse event raises funds to help support one of our community initiatives, "Ready to Read," which provides books, supplies and a reading liaison to our littlest Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Money raised from this event ensures that more children receive the support they need and are ready to succeed. Thank you to the event sponsors, in-kind donors, POP committee and everyone who attended the event. With your help and support, we were able to raise $40,000.
